From the Quebec City and Hull regions of the province of Quebec, Canada, Mortal Rites is a death/thrash metal band formed in 2023 with the intention of making extreme metal, the old school way. Influenced by OSDM acts such as Morbid Angel, Death and Bolt Thrower and old school thrash metal bands like Testament

Mortal Rites music aims to be fast, aggressive and abrasive, while adding elements of groove and melody to forge its own distinct sound. They aim to establish themselves as a band worthy of mention hailing from a province that is known for birthing many legendary death metal bands in the 90's and 2000's.

After releasing a first four-song demo in 2023 titled Eternity Of Torment, Mortal Rites is getting ready to release a first EP titled Death In Heaven, Life In Hell later in 2024. From fast-paced OSDM-infused riffs mixed with the abrasiveness of old school thrash metal and face-ripping solos, this six-song release cranks every previous characteristic of Mortal Rites’ music to the next level, while exploring classic themes associated with death metal like religion, tyranny and warfare mixed with more modern and personal subjects like illnesses and the failures of capitalism.
